TRCI apprenticeship program changes inmates
Inmates studying for electrical exam
An apprenticeship program sponsored by the Physical Plant at Two Rivers Correctional Institution (TRCI) in Umatilla is teaching inmates to become electricians and sheet metal workers upon release. Since initiation of the course, five apprentices have successfully completed the program and sat for the Oregon Manufacturing Plant Electrical exam. Those inmates received five of the six highest scores in the state electrical exam.

Governor Kulongoski has signed "Go Oregon!" into law, authorizing the sale of bonds to fund important maintenance and construction projects at public facilities througout Oregon. Of the $175 million in total statewide projects, DOC will receive just under $6.7 million to fund 10 agency projects.
