Traffic Impact
Construction update (May 10, 2024):
Construction continues along SE 82nd Ave. Contractors working for ODOT are doing underground pipe and maintenance hole work and ugrading sidewalk curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements at select intersections and side streets. Current work also includes utility relocations within the project corridor by PBOT, PGE and Lumen.
Current traffic impacts:
- Around-the-clock single lane closures on 82nd Avenue between Foster Road and Glencoe Road.
Construction Impacts
Throughout construction, travelers can expect:- Daytime and nighttime lane closures on SE 82nd Ave. between SE Foster Road and SE Thompson Road, with at least one lane open in each direction at a time.
- Some side streets will temporarily close at their intersections during construction activities with detours in place.
- Temporary intersection closures during construction activities with detours in place.
- Temporary pedestrian accessible detour routes for people walking, biking and rolling during construction.
During construction, people who live or work near the project work areas may hear periodic construction noise from heavy equipment, construction trucks, and tools such as concrete saws, drills, jackhammers and pavement grinders.
Night Work
To reduce traffic impacts during the day on SE 82nd Ave., some construction work will occur at night. Nighttime construction noise will take place periodically from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.

The City of Portland is investing in 82nd Avenue to deliver critical fixes now.
