Artists rendering of new OSH
Under the leadership of the Governor and Senate President, the 2007 Oregon Legislature authorized $458.1 million to build two new state-operated psychiatric facilities. September 3, 2008, DHS will break ground to begin replacing the Oregon State Hospital, which is one of the oldest continuously used mental health hospitals on the West Coast, and which also has the distinction of being one of the most decrepit of mental health facilities in the nation.
