Overview

Welcome to the Oregon Water Supply and Conservation Initiative webpage. On this website you can find various kinds of information about the Initiative as it becomes available.

The Oregon Water Supply and Conservation Initiative is a key step forward in addressing Oregon’s long-term water supply needs. If funded, the Initiative will include:
OWRD Logo
  • Assessment of existing and long-term water supply needs,
  • Inventory of potential storage sites,
  • Analysis of conservation opportunities,
  • Basin yield estimates, and
  • Match funding for community and regional-based water planning.

The information gained from the Initiative is necessary to ensure that there are adequate water supplies to meet existing and future instream and out-of-stream water needs, and to maintain the vitality of Oregon’s population and economy.

You can help us meet these challenges and develop a strategy for meeting Oregon’s long-term water supply needs by staying informed.

This project is intended to help us characterize water demands and water conservation projects at the county and basin level, and begin to identify where additional public policy and legislative work may be necessary during the next several years in order to meet both in-stream and out-of-stream demands across the state.
