Recently, you may have heard that the Department of Revenue is no longer providing preparer education. This is not true.
The Department of Revenue (DOR) has not changed its policy of providing tax law training to preparers. We have always made every effort to accommodate and encourage your requests.
What has changed, perhaps, is the amount of personnel resource we have available to conduct these trainings. Due to the state's current budget situation and the statewide hiring freeze, our business priorities are being reviewed.
Through the remainder of this biennium:
For those chapters that only request the annual new law update, we do not anticipate any change in this free service.
For those chapters that request training on other tax topics throughout the year, your requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Please do not take this personally.
We will do the best we can to fill your requests. Please remember to make all of your requests through me. But feel free to request a specific auditor to do the training if you like. I will work with the auditor and their manager to accommodate your request.
