The Invasion of the Smoke Alarms - A Door-to-Door Smoke Alarm Campaign
 
OSFM invites local fire departments and their community partners to attend a free workshop on The Invasion of the Smoke Alarms door-to-door campaign. Those attending the workshop will receive a free kit for the fire department. When the fire department's campaign agreement form for a door-to-door campaign is approved they may receive up to 50 free smoke alarms and $250 for the campaign.

Multi-Family Housing Fire Reduction Program - A Train-the-Trainer Workshop
 
Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue (TVF&R) is conducting a free Train-the-Trainer workshop on the Multi-Family Housing Fire Reduction Program, at the Office of State Fire Marshal. This workshop is brought to you in partnership with the Office of State Fire Marshal and the Oregon Life Safety Team. The workshop is designed to help fire departments develop their own Fire and Life Safety Training program for Apartment Managers.

New First Responder Training Courses The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of State and Local Government Coordination and Preparedness, in cooperation with the DHS/U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), announced last week three new courses that offer more comprehensive training to improve the readiness of emergency responders in protecting the nation´s communities and, potentially, the critical infrastructures within municipalities. The newly approved courses offered by USFA´s National Fire Academy include:  Introduction to Unified Command for Multi-Agency and Catastrophic Incidents (F315) Command and General Staff Functions in the Incident Command System (R317) All Hazards Incident Management (available upon request on a case-by-case basis) Contact Gordon Sachs (301-447-1594; Gordon.Sachs@dhs.gov) or Robert Murgallis (301-447-1347; Robert.Murgallis@dhs.gov ) for details about the All Hazards Incident Management Course.
