The Oregon Fire Fatality Review Committee is an advisory group to the Community Education Services Section. Membership is comprised of fire service professionals statewide, National Fire Protection Association, private companies and the public at large. Committee members represent a statewide perspective on fire problems and are using their expertise to collectively analyze fire fatalities that occur in residences. They will make recommendations regarding fire prevention education and fire safety programs to reduce residential fire fatalities in Oregon. Issues considered include socio-economic status (education, income), impairment (mobility, age, medications, etc), rural living and fire department access to residences during a fire, age and gender, ethnicity, children not responding to smoke alarms, and smoking while on oxygen.
