Oregon State Police is releasing a composite drawing of an unidentified suspect sought in connection with the December 10th shooting of two men on Highway 26 in the Zig Zag area. The shooting seriously wounded both victims, one of which remains in a Portland-area hospital. In addition to the composite drawing released today, two segments of dispatch recordings were previously released to help develop information and leads with the ongoing investigation.
Hwy 26 Shooting Suspect Sketch
The suspect is still described as a white male in his 30's wearing a baseball cap and an unknown color t-shirt. No definitive vehicle description is known other than it was a passenger car.

Investigators are asking for the public's help to solve this case. Anyone with information regarding a person matching the composite drawing known to be in the Mt. Hood area on December 10, 2007 at approximately 10:00 p.m. is asked to call Oregon State Police Northern Command Center dispatch at 800-452-7888. Lead investigator is Detective Patti Rhodes.

The segments of previously released dispatch recordings are included with this release.

Dispatch recording #1 is the beginning portion of the 9-1-1 call from victim JOSEPH LANGLEY following the shooting.

Dispatch recording #2 is a short segment of officers being provided initial information at the time of being dispatched to the call.

Full length recordings are not being released.

On December 10, 2007 at approximately 10:00 p.m. the two victims, JOSEPH LANGLEY, age 33, and JOSHUA GEHRKE, age 32, both from Gresham, were returning from a snowboarding evening in the Government Camp area with GEHRKE's 9-year old son, and his son's 9-year old friend, westbound on Highway 26. Approaching Rhododendron, a passenger car reportedly began following too closely behind the van and did not pass them even as they were driving in the four-lane section.

LANGLEY pulled onto the shoulder and stopped near Lolo Pass Road to allow the car to drive by, but upon doing so the car stopped on the shoulder behind the van. The victims got out of the van and walked toward the car during which a short verbal exchange between the victims and suspect took place. Shortly after, rounds shot from a handgun struck both men.

After being shot, the victims returned to the van and drove a short distance westbound before stopping on the shoulder at the E. Lolo Pass Road intersection. The men called 9-1-1 as the suspect drove away possibly westbound.

Oregon State Police, Hoodland Fire Department personnel, AMR ambulance, Clackamas County Sheriff's Department, and ODOT responded to the scene.
