This memorial is on the side of our bomb truck in honor of Sgt. Richard (Dick) Schuening, a supervisory bomb technician who as killed on October 2, 1997, in an explosion in rural Eastern Oregon while he was preparing to destroy about 450 old blasting caps.

Sgt. Schuening is one of the two OSP officers included in the Umatilla Memorial.
