Programs
Titling & Registration of Your Watercraft


All motorized boats, regardless of length or type, must be titled and registered in Oregon.
Sailboats 12 feet or longer must also be titled and registered.

Application for title and/or registration can be made directly to our office by mail or by visiting a local bonded Boat Registration Agent.  Registration agents may charge an additional agent fee and issue a 60-day temporary permit to allow use of the boat right away.  All transactions are submitted to our one, Salem office for processing.


Requirements for various transactions:
 
Brand New Boats:
·          Complete an Application for Boat Title & Registration
·          Original manufacturer’s statement or certificate of origin (MSO/MCO)
·          Title and registration fees. Title fee $30. Calculate the registration fee as follows,
             15 ft 2 in = 16 x $3 + $5 = $53.
 
Oregon Boat Title transfers:
·          An original Oregon Certificate of Title for a Boat with dated signatures of all owners 
           and/or lenders releasing their interest.  
·          Complete the application on the back of the title with new owner information.
·          Title fees. Registration fees if needed.
 
Oregon Lost Boat Title Applications:
·         A lost boat title application properly signed by all owners of record.
·         Title fees. Registration fees if needed.
    *   Note: If there are other circumstances such as death or divorce, please contact the Marine 
         Board for specific instructions.
 
Boats new to Oregon, from another state or that have never been titled and registered before:
·          Complete an Application for Boat Title & Registration
·          Complete a Boat History form
·          Title and registration fees. 
       *Note: If from a non-titling state, submit an original bill of sale and the registration or a 
          printout of the boat record from the issuing state.  A Hull Identification Number inspection
          will be required from non-titling states. 
Documented Vessels:
·       Complete an Application for Boat Title & Registration form (used for most transactions)
·       Submit the application with a copy of your Coast Guard Documentation Papers
·       Calculate registration fees only at $3.00 per foot (rounded up) plus the $5.00 Aquatic
        Invasive Species Prevention surcharge

Registration Renewal
**Please note -
 Registration renewal payments cannot be processed before November 1st each year.

 
 3 Ways to Renew:

1) Online. You'll need your Certificate of Number and PIN number from the renewal
     notice-mailed October 30th.(only those expiring last year were issued PIN numbers)

2) Direct Mail: Marine Board PO Box 14145 Salem, OR 97309. Calculate fee:
     $3 per foot (rounded up) plus the $5 Aquatic Invasive Species Surcharge.
       i.e. A boat 18 feet 2 inches = (19 X $3) + $5 = $62
         *Please make note of address changes.

3) Visit a registration agent. (agents may charge a processing fee)
 
     Current decals lost or removed? Replacement sets are $10.
