Marine Board -approved Internet courses changed formats to improve the learning experience:
- Pages will be timed so the student spends a minimum of three hours reviewing the course material online.
- Students must pass a chapter quiz before continuing to the next chapter. Failure to pass the quiz will require the student to repeat the chapter.
- Students must pass all of the chapter quizzes and the final exam in order to receive a Certificate of Completion.

Note: This course costs $29.95 to take the online test. The fee is NOT collected by the Oregon State Marine Board, but by BoaterExam.
If you pass the test, you have the option of paying an additional $10.00 (cost of the Boater's Education card) on-line to automatically receive your official Boater Education Card in the mail (which takes approximately two to three weeks). Or, you can print out your certificate of completion (make a copy) and mail a completed application Boater Education Card application (in PDF), plus $10, manually.
