Checking Out, Downloading, and Enjoying Unabridged Books
You can browse or search the Unabridged site for downloadable materials. When you locate a title of interest, simply add it to your BookBag and check out the title. For more information on the checkout process, click here.

If a desired title is not available, you may place a hold on the title. For more information on placing a title on hold, click here.

Once you have checked out a title, a download page will be displayed. Click the 'Download' link to start the download. Once the download is complete, you can close your Internet connection and enjoy the materials offline.

You will never accrue late fees with titles you download from this website. At the end of the loan period, titles will expire and be automatically 'returned' to the library. At this time, you can delete the expired file(s) from your machine.

How do I get to my titles after I've downloaded them?

Access downloaded titles as follows:
OverDrive Media Console automatically saves a copy of the audio book to your computer.  To play an audio book, open OverDrive Media Console and select the desired title from the 'Media Library'.

Note that if you've misplaced your copy of a downloaded title, the Unabridged: Digital Audio Books maintains a history of borrowed digital materials called 'My Bookshelf'. During the lending period, most digital materials can be re-downloaded from the My Bookshelf feature by clicking on the 'My Bookshelf' link in the My Account section.

What is 'My BookBag'?

When you come across an available title that you may want to check out, you can click 'Add to BookBag' to place the title in your personal BookBag. Placing a title in your BookBag is like placing it on temporary reserve; as long as the title is in your BookBag, it will remain available for you to check out. Please note that the system will automatically remove a title from your BookBag 30 minutes after you have placed it there, making the title available to other patrons at your library.

How many titles can I have in my My BookBag at the same time?

Our system allows you to put up to 5 titles in your My BookBag at the same time. If you have decided against checking out a particular title, you can click the 'remove' link to pull it from your My BookBag.
