Antioch Cemetery Grant Project Historic Designation Signs Available Now!

The Historic Cemeteries Program is offering small, metal signs that indicate the historic designation of a cemetery. The signs are free of charge, but the cemetery must be listed with the Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries. Contact Kuri Gill at Kuri.Gill@state.or.us or (503) 986-0685 to get a sign.

OCHC Meeting with the OMCB and Interpretation Workshop
OCHC Meeting September 26, 2008 9:00-5:00, Ontario Four Rivers Cultural Center

The Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries will be meeting in Medford. From 9:00am to 11:00am Brandy Cochrane of the Oregon Mortuary and Cemetery Board will discuss certification, fees and other rules for operating cemeteries. Following a lunch break, the OCHC will hold its public meeting.

Getting Your Site on the Map: Ideas and Tools for Interpreting Historic Locations Workshop
September 27, 2008 9:00-4:00, Ontario Four Rivers Cultural Center

Topics will include websites, signs, brochures, tours, living history and more. Interpretation is a great way to capture heritage tourism and make connections with your local community. You will walk away with great tools for inclusive and creative interpretation for your cemetery, museum or historic district.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR THE WORKSHOP.
