The State Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation (SACHP) is a nine-member committee appointed by the governor that reviews National Register nominations in Oregon and votes on their eligibility. When the committee determines that a nomination is eligible, it recommends that the State Historic Preservation Officer sign the nomination and forward it to the National Register Office in Washington D.C. for its review and listing. The committee meets three times a year to review nominations brought forward by SHPO´s National Register coordinator. The committee also advises SHPO on matters of program, policy, and budget.
The SACHP meets three times annually in February, June, and October. Official meeting dates and locations are announced publicly 90 to 60 days before the meeting on this website. Property owners and preparers submitting National Register nominations, local government executives, and local historic preservation commissions with proposed properties in their jurisdiction receive notification of meeting location, time, and agenda 60 days before the meeting. All meeting locations are accessible to persons with disabilities. Special accommodations for the hearing impaired require advance notification to the State Historic Preservation Office.
