Veterans' and War Memorial Grants: Who is Eligible?
Who can Apply
Non-profit veterans’ organizations who meet the following criteria are eligible for project funding:
  • Tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3)
  • Represent veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States of America
  • Support or recognize veterans
  • Have an established membership, including officers and bylaws
  • Are either physically located in Oregon, or have a chapter physically located in Oregon


Project Guidelines
Projects must be placed on public property owned and controlled by a government entity.
 
Construction – Constructing a new memorial, defined as a monument or place designated to either commemorate or preserve the memory of wars involving the United States, or to honor veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States.
 
Restoration – Improving, rehabilitating, repairing or reconstructing an existing memorial. Maintenance projects are not eligible.
 

Match Criteria
The grant will provide up to 80 percent of project funds and the project sponsor must have a 20 percent match, 10 percent of which is a cash match. Matching funds include budgeted funds, donated funds, value of equipment use, donated materials, volunteer labor, planning, or a combination thereof.

Sustainable Projects
Sustainability means using, developing, and protecting resources in a manner that enables people to meet current needs and provides that future generations can also meet future needs, from the joint perspective of environmental, economic and community objectives. Applicants should provide description of intent, strategies, documentation of results, and long-term management plans.
