| What is the purpose of CSEPP? |

The CSEPP has three purposes:
- Enhance emergency preparedness in communities surrounding chemical warfare agent storage sites through emergency planning efforts, a community alert and warning system, and hazard mitigation strategies.
- Protect the environment from the effects of an accident during continued storage and subsequent destruction of chemical warfare agents through emergency planning and facility permit programs.
- Ensure the area maintains acceptable environmental integrity and is restored to its original environmental state after the weapons are destroyed. This is done through recovery planning and through programs administered and monitored by the Department of Environmental Quality.
