The Oregon Health Licensing Agency (OHLA) is participating in what is being billed as the "largest tattoo show in Oregon's history" at the Lane County Convention Center in Eugene April 10-12.
On Friday, April 10, OHLA Regulatory Operations staff will be conducting on-site inspections to ensure that all tattoo artists are following Oregon health and safety requirements.
OHLA staff will also be reviewing seminar content to determine if the content qualifies for continuing education credit. Tattoo artists must complete 10 hours of continuing education every two years.
OHLA Regulatory Operations Manager Tim Molloy is scheduled to give a presentation Friday before the convention starts to tattoo artists on what OHLA looks for when conducting facility inspections of nearly 250 businesses and 600 tattoo artists/permanent color technicians licensed to provide services in Oregon.
Molloy will be using information from OHLA's Tattoo/Permanent Color Self Inspection Sheet, a resource for practitioners to assist them with staying in compliance with state requirements to protect the health and safety of Oregon consumers.
OHLA will continue its participation in the convention with an information table to educate both licensees and consumers at the convention on Friday and Saturday, April 11, offering materials from the agency's public education campaign, Piercing Thoughts.
