Roads Scholar Program
2011 Revisions to the Roads Scholar Program
The Roads Scholar training program has been recently revised.  The four elective requirements for Level 1 Certificates have been eliminated and a Level 2 curriculum has been adopted.
 
The curriculum for Roads Scholar Level 1 includes the following ten classes, each class is four hours in length:
 
RS-1 Basics of a Good RoadRS Logo
RS-2 Drainage - Key to Roads that Last
RS-3 Paving Materials
RS-4 Environmental BMP’s 1
RS-5 Asphalt Pavement Maintenance 1
RS-6 Asphalt Pavement Maintenance 2
RS-7 Effective Communication Skills
RS-8 Environmental BMP’s 2
RS-9 Maintenance Math
RS-10 Introduction to Survey and Grade Checking
 
The curriculum for Roads Scholar Level 2 includes the following eight classes, each class is six hours in length:
 
RS-11 Workplace Safety Training 1
RS-12 Workplace Safety Training 2
RS-13 Advanced Work Zone Traffic Control
RS-14 Roadway Safety Fundamentals 1
RS-15 Roadway Safety Fundamentals 2
RS-16 Roadway Materials / Inspection
RS-17 Bridge Inspection, Maintenance and Repair
RS-18 Winter Road Maintenance
 
Level 2 classes are open to those who have received their Roads Scholar Level 1 Certificate or have substantially completed the Roads Scholar Level 1 requirements.
