I-205 Preservation: Southern Corridor
Project Information
I-205 from the Willamette River Bridge to I-5

Contractors for the Oregon Department of Transportation began work in the summer of 2006 on the third section of preservation work on Interstate 205.  They are upgrading and retrofitting 8.8 miles of I-205 from the Abernethy Bridge in Oregon City to the I-5 interchange.  The project includes the following:
  • paving the freeway, ramps and viewpoint
  • widening two bridges over Prosperity Park Road
  • building/repairing the bridge and guard rails and upgrading/replacing signs, sign bridges, and illumination, as necessary
  • Adding one lane in each direction from Stafford Road to I-5.  The added lanes are required to accommodate construction activities and will be left in place as permanent auxiliary lanes.
Work on this section of I-205 has been substantially completed. However, landscaping is expected to take place during 2008, and motorists should be aware of work crews in the area.

There have been two community open house events held, one in August, and one in November 2005. Comments from the first open house are available here.
