Moped Driver License

A moped (Restricted Class C) driver license authorizes the operation of mopeds only.

To Qualify/Apply

You must apply in person at a DMV office.

To qualify/apply you must:

Be an Oregon resident or domiciled in Oregon;
Be at least 16 years of age;
Provide proof of legal presence, full legal name, identity and date of birth;
Provide proof of your Social Security Number (SSN);
Provide proof of residence address;
Complete a Driver License/ID Card Application;
Answer medical questions: All driver license applicants must answer a series of medical questions when applying for an original, renewal or replacement driver license (OAR 735-062-0000(2)). If you answer “yes” to one of the medical questions, indicating you have a medical condition that makes you unable to drive safely, you are not eligible for a license. DMV will not be able to issue you a license until you have established that your medical condition does not affect your ability to drive safely. To do so, DMV may ask you to provide additional medical information and/or pass DMV tests;
Under 18: Pass a Safe Driving Practices Knowledge Test and obtain a parent or guardian's signature on the Driver License/ID Card Application, unless married or an emancipated minor;
Under 18: If applying for an Oregon driving privilege for the first time, you must show proof of school enrollment, completion or exemption;
Pass the Moped Knowledge Test. All the information necessary to pass the knowledge test is included in the Oregon Motorcycle & Moped Operating Manual and the Oregon Driver Manual;
Pass a drive test conducted by DMV;
Pass a vision screening test as defined in OAR 735-062-0050;
Pay appropriate testing and issuance fees; and

Not have suspended or revoked driving privileges in Oregon or any other state.
