The Oregon Transportation Commission will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, in Public Meeting Rooms A and B of the Oregon Department of Transportation Region 1 Headquarters, 123 N.W. Flanders Street, in Portland.

Commissioners will hear a monthly status report on the ConnectOregon program, Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, the Oregon Transportation Investment Acts (OTIA I and II) and the OTIA III State Bridge Delivery Program.

The commission will hear an informational update on the Local Government Certification Program, which allows local agencies to demonstrate they have the necessary qualifications to deliver projects with federal-aid funding.

OTC members will be asked to approve the designation of a new Scenic Byway, the Umpqua Scenic Byway in Douglas County, and a new Tour Route, the Vineyard and Valley Scenic Tour Route in Washington County.

Also included on the agenda is a request for approval to commit funding to the state’s Metropolitan Planning Organizations. MPOs use the funds to carry out their transportation planning programs. The total amount of state, federal and local funds to be passed through to the MPOs for State Fiscal Year 2009 is $7.6 million.

In conjunction with the meeting, OTC members will participate in a tour of the region on Tuesday, April 22, followed by a reception and dinner in the evening.

Meetings of the Oregon Transportation Commission are open to the public. Time will be available at the meeting for commissioners to hear public comments.
