For the latest information on road conditions throughout Oregon, visit www.TripCheck.com or call 511 or 800-977-6368.
As of 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, U.S. 30 (Lower Columbia River Highway) remains closed in both directions at mile post 67 (about 5 miles west of Clatskanie) while crews work to clear Tuesday’s slide that covered a stretch of U.S. 30 several football fields long with mud, trees and other debris.
**Crews worked through the night to clear the highway of debris. While much of the debris has been cleared, plugged culverts in the area are causing water to continue washing across the roadway. Crews continue to work as quickly as possible to reopen U.S. 30.
**U.S. 30 is expected to remain closed in both directions until further notice. Only residents who live behind road blockades will be allowed past the safety checkpoints.
**Detour routes from Portland to Astoria: Motorists can use U.S. 30 to the Longview Bridge to SR 4 to SR 401 in Washington; or U.S. 26 (Sunset Highway) to U.S. 101 in Oregon. Use the reverse routes for traveling from Astoria to Portland.
**Motorists also have the option of using the Wahkiakum County Ferry, which connects Westport on U.S. 30 to Puget Island and Cathlamet, Washington, at SR 4. Please check http://www.co.wahkiakum.wa.us/depts/pw/index.htm for more information and the ferry schedule.
