Tillamook District Road Closures
Forestry resumes seasonal road restrictions for hunting on west Tillamook
The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) will resume road restrictions this fall in the western part of the Tillamook State Forest to improve deer and elk escapement during hunting season. Click this link and check the Recreation section for more information and a map of the road closures.
The North Fork Trask River Road will be closed at milepost 10 (near Junction with Clear Creek Road) until approximately August 15, 2008. Pickup traffic may be able to sneak through but larger vehicles will not be able to get through.
The West Fork Wilson River road is temporarily closed due to washing out in the December storms.
Not all of the roads listed below are entirely closed, some are blocked at the beginning, middle or end portion of the road and some are blocked at junctions to spurs, etc. This is the best information we have at the present.

Two gates located on the Eagle Hill Road and one gate on an adjacent OHV trail will remain closed throughout the winter to protect road building equipment and newly constructed dirt roads. The gate locations on Eagle Hill Road are located in T2S R7W Sec. 5 (off of the Toll road) and T1S R7W Sec. 32 (off the North Fork Trask). Each gate has a state 366 lock for access.
Forest Grove District Road Closures
Due to rock crushing activities in the Seven Cedars Rockpit, Seven Cedars Road will be closed from South Saddle Road to the junction with C-Line. The closure will remain in effect for an undetermined length of time until the contractor moves out or crushing activities stop. The attached map shows the closed section and the detour routes.

Carlson Creek Road: The bridge at Chicken Camp on Carlson Creek road is closed until further notice. The stream has scoured out the fill on one end of the bridge making it impassible to vehicles. We plan on repairing it as soon as the snow melts off enough to allow us to access the rock source we will be utilizing for the repair.

Regulated Use Fire Closure Restrictions are in Effect as of July 14, 2008
A waiver is in effect for OHV trail networks in the Browns Camp, Jordan Creek, Diamond Mill, and Trask areas so the trails remain open. Click here for a map of trail areas that are open for OHV use during regulated use fire closure.
All trail closures will be strictly enforced under OAR 629-25-070. Thank you for your cooperation in respecting the following trail closures.
For questions, concerns or more information about temporary OHV trail closures please contact Oregon Department of Forestry's OHV Coordinator at (503) 357-2191 or contact the district in which the trail is listed.

Forest Grove District OHV Trails
Browns Camp OHV Area:
#1 Rogers Camp Road and #2 Firebreak One trails are periodically closed on weekdays due to logging activity. Click here to see PDF map of closure area
#8 Julie's Trail is temporarily closed to prevent further impacts to the trail, to minimize erosion and impacts to water quality and to repair significantly damaged sections of the trail. Repairs will be completed by a contractor and are currently scheduled to take place during late summer and fall 2008. The trail will re-open when the repair work is complete. Respecting this trail closure will allow us to more quickly repair the damage and open the trail.
#10 University Fire Power Trail- The section of the trail between Beaver Dam Road and University Falls Road is temporarily closed due to winter storm damage. An old puncheon culvert was damaged and the trail over the old puncheon culvert is eroded to the point that it is impassable to all vehicle traffic. A new culvert will need to be installed. No timeline has been set for repair work. The rest of University Firepower Trail is open.
#12 Gummy Worm Trail. The section of trail from the first road crossing west to the end of the trail is temporarily closed for repair and upgrade work. The trail has been adopted by the Trailsmen Motorcycle Club. The club and the Oregon Department of Forestry are working together to complete the repair and maintenance work. The club recently completed work on the first section of the trail from Beaver Dam Road to the first road crossing and it is now open to use. Additional work is required on the rest of the trail. The entire trail is expected to be open in late summer 2008.
#16d Airplane Hill Trail. A segment of the Airplane Hill Trail has been significantly damaged and is no longer sustainable. The damaged segment will be redesigned to maintain the challenge and to make the trail sustainable. The Oregon Department of Forestry is working with the Cascade Cruisers four-wheel drive club to redesign and repair the trail. Design work is in progress and work will begin in summer 2008. The trail will remain closed until the repair work is complete. The trail is expected to re-open in summer or fall 2008.
#25 Elliott Creek Trail is temporarily closed due to winter storm damage. A section of the long bridge was damaged during the flood. The section damaged can’t be repaired and will need to be replaced. Design work for the new bridge is complete. Construction of the new bridge segment will be contracted out this summer. The trail will open later this summer once the new bridge construction work is complete.
Tillamook District OHV Trails
Jordan Creek OHV Area:
# 27 Ben Smith Loop: The southern section of the loop trail has been closed due to resource issues. The trail fords a fish bearing stream, Ben Smith Creek, in two locations. Heavy gullying further up the trail has created severe ruts and some potentially dangerously narrow sections.
# 28 Archers Firebreak: The Can Opener section of Archers FB 4WD trail has been repaired and the boulders have been put back in place. Representatives from the 4WD community and ODF staff and an equipment operator met on site on Saturday, Nov. 24th. The users worked with ODF to direct the placement of the boulders to create a black diamond level rock crawl on this section of trail.
#28 B Can Opener - the soil around the recently replaced boulders on Can Opener is very soft and prone to erosion. Please help us protect the work that was done. Tread lightly when running that section and back down the trail if you start to notice that your wheels are spinning and mud is flying. We will be packing pit run into the soft spots when we have the chance.
#35 Buzzards Point Trail is closed due to a bridge wash-out that occurred during the November flood event.Bridge to be replaced with FEMA funded bridge
#36 Rogers Road Trail is closed due to active logging and project work. This closure is expected to last through the fall 2008.
# 37 Stick In The Nose is closed indefinitely due to timber sale activity.
#38 Mad Dogs Pumpkin Patch Trail is closed due to active logging and project work. This closure is expected to last through the fall 2008. For more information contact Sale Administrator at 503-815-7022.
#39 Spaur Creek Trail is open to motorcycle and quads. A recent volunteer work party repaired and re-set two trail bridges and hardened several sections of trail. Riders are advised to use caution on the trail bridges as they may be slick.
#40 Duane's Trail remains closed indefinitely due to flood damage. Riders are advised to not venture down this trail as it is a dead end and very difficult to ride back up. In addition this further damages the trail as inexperienced riders dig ruts as they struggle to climb back out.
Diamond Mill OHV Area:
# 56 BPA Trail is closed due to 2 washouts, and 1 landslide.
# 75 Elk Wallow Trail - multiple large trees across trail at this time.
# 82 MC Trail will be temporarily closed until the West Fork Wilson River Road is repaired.
#90 Outback Trail is closed due to washouts from the recent storms
#93 Mongo's Canyon Trail is closed because of storm damage and failing puncheon culverts.
#97 Old Cedar Creek Trail is closed due to several blown culverts.
#130 Reid's Ridge Trail and #46 Reads Ridge South Trail are closed due to Berry Cobbler timber sale. This closure is expected to last until the fall of 2009.
Trask OHV Area:
All OHV trails within the Phone Murphy timber sale are closed due to active project work and logging. These are all unnamed trails in Sections 13, 14, and 24 of T2S, R7W. The trails will reopen once the timber sale is completed.
All OHV trails accessed of Eagle Hill Road are closed due to the Toll Shanty Timber Sale. These are all unnamed trails in Sections 31, & 32 of f T1S, R7W & 5 & 6 T2S, R7W. The trails will reopen once the timber sale is completed
Little Bertha and Big Bertha (also known as the Backside of Bertha) sections of Ginsberg Point Trail are closed due to an active timber sale. When the sale is completed the trails will be reopened. Big Bertha Road and surrounding motorcycle and quad trails are also closed.
Eagle Hill Trail is closed to 4WDs. The trail will remain closed until a bridge suitable for 4WD can be installed at the bottom stream crossing.
