District Implementation Plans Are Approved
Minor modifications have been approved for the 2003 implementation plans for Astoria and Forest Grove districts. View a summary of the changes here.
District implementation plans (IPs) for the seven districts guided by the Northwest Oregon and Southwest Oregon State Forests Management Plans were approved by Acting State Forester Roy Woo in 2003. (See list of changes made after the Final Draft submitted to the State Forester in February 2003.) Under these management plans, shorter term planning documents (IPs) provide details on management approaches and activities for approximately ten years. The IPs provide the guidance for annual operations plans (AOPs) for the districts within these plan areas, and are essential background for public review of draft AOPs.
A 90-day comment period for draft IPs and forest land management classification maps ended in September 2001. The IPs also received input from resource specialists, forest trust land county commissioners, other state agencies, etc., as well as discussion at Board of Forestry and advisory meetings. The comments received were used in modifying and completing the IPs.
Two state forest districts are managed under forest plans that do not include implementation plans: Klamath-Lake District (Sun Pass State Forest) and Coos District (Elliott State Forest).
