Public input into forest management is very important to assure that state forests are managed for the benefits important to Oregonians.
The department provides a variety of ways for citizens to participate in state forest planning, such as public meetings, public hearings, and forest tours; advisory committees; formal comment periods; informal meetings; newsletters, mailings, and other publications; and volunteer work in the forest.
Formal opportunities for comment occur at different levels of forest management planning and plan implementation, including forest management plans, habitat conservation plans, recreation plans, the statewide monitoring plan, implementation plans, and annual operations plans.
