Public tour of a state forest
Public input into forest management is very important to assure that state forests are managed for the benefits important to Oregonians.
 
The department provides a variety of ways for citizens to participate in state forest planning, such as public meetingspublic hearings, and forest toursadvisory committeesformal comment periods; informal meetings; newsletters, mailings, and other publications; and volunteer work in the forest.
 
Formal opportunities for comment occur at different levels of forest management planning and plan implementation, including forest management planshabitat conservation plansrecreation plans, the statewide monitoring planimplementation plans, and annual operations plans.
