A woodland scene
Coos District
The Coos District manages 97,000 acres, including the 93,000-acre Elliott State Forest in Coos and Douglas Counties.

Go to the Coos District web page for more information.

Call the district for recreation information.

Firewood cutting:  The Coos District Office issues free firewood permits on the Elliott State Forest for personal use.  The permits are for two cords and usually give the permittee two weeks time to do their wood-cutting.  Firewood permits become available after fire season is over and are then available for a month or two until the landings are burned.  There may be a limited amount of wood available during the winter, but the best time is right after fire season is lifted (in the fall).  To find out if permits are available, call the Coos District firewood information line at 541-267-1774.

Go to the annual operations plans web page for information on timber sales and public input.
