The Plant Division includes four sections: Insect Pest Prevention & Management, Native Plant Conservation, Noxious Weed Control, and Nursery & Christmas Tree. The Division's programs protect Oregon's agricultural industries and natural environment from harmful plant pests, diseases and noxious weeds; enhance the value and marketability of exported nursery stock, Christmas trees, seeds and other agricultural products; and further the conservation of threatened and endangered plants.

Gyspy Moth Spray schedule for Shady Cove
Gypsy moth spray
The Insect Pest Prevention and Management program starts eradication program by helicopter starting May 1 to mid-May 2008. There will be 3 treatments scheduled to eradicate the gypsy moth population from the area. The eradication area covers approximately 336 acres in Shady Cove, roughly centered just west of Highway 62, on the southeast side of the Rogue River. Spraying will start approximately one-half hour before sunrise weather permitting.
New updates to weed quarantines
Two new weeds, parrots feather (Myrophyllum aquaticum) and perennial peavine (Lathyrus latifolius) have been added to the list.
Restrictions after December 31, 2009, for English Ivy (Hedera helix/ hibernica), butterflybush (Buddleia davidii/ varabilia), and Scotch broom, (Cytisus scoparius)

Oregon State Weed Board Grant Program
The Oregon State Weed Board (OSWB) invites you to apply for grant funding for noxious weed control projects related to the protection and enhancement of watersheds and fish and wildlife. This will be the third cycle for the 2007-09 biennium and the 18th cycle overall. Specific criteria will be outlined within the grant application. Closing date for grant applications is July 11th, 2008. Awards will be decided at the Oregon State Weed Board meeting September 4 & 5, 2008.
