History in Oregon
In 1993, two black species, Apthona czwalinae and Aphona lacertosa were released. Both were recovered in 1994. These two species seem to prefer more moist sites and have reduced leafy spurge at a number of sites in eastern Oregon. Both species, particularly Apthona lacertosa , which usually accounts for >90% of most releases, have been heavily redistributed in eastern and central Oregon.
