Telework Program for Oregon Businesses
Sample Cost-Benefit Analysis

Many employees in the department do not yet have PC workstations. Capital dollars were budgeted for additional PCs. The department will purchase portable laptops that can be used in the office and for telecommuting. Each employee will have only one PC workstation.
Each two telecommuters will share a workstation and adopt telecommuting schedules that will accommodate such an arrangement. The department will gain one work space for each two employees that telecommute.

Telecommuters will have an off-premise extension at their home office that allows them to use the features and voice mail system of the office PBX system. Where the employee is receiving calls will be transparent to customers.

The department and employees will benefit from telecommuting work arrangements. The telecommuting option will have a positive effect on employee morale. Telecommuting arrangements must not adversely affect productivity or communications.
