As part of our responsibilities in overseeing the Business Energy Tax Credit Program, the Oregon Department of Energy has the authority to perform a site review of a representative sample of projects to ensure that equipment has been installed and operates as specified. This verification visit is authorized in the Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs).*
The following are Oregon Department of Energy employees who conduct the site verification visits. On a site visit, they will take a photograph of the equipment and ask a few questions concerning the project. Each site visits take approximately 20 to 30 minutes and no more than one hour. All employees carry Oregon Department of Energy photo identification.

(5) Inspections: After an application is filed or a tax credit is claimed under these rules,ODOE may inspect the facility. ODOE will schedule the inspection during normal working hours, following reasonable notice to the facility operator.
