As you search for a job, you can make a positive difference in your life and in your community by volunteering your time and skills to help others. Volunteer work can build experience for your resume and expand your list of community employment contacts.

Important News and Notes
Unemployment Insurance and Taxes - Form 1099-G
Any unemployment insurance benefits you receive may be taxable if you are required to file a tax return. We report to the IRS and Oregon Department of Revenue all taxes withheld on the benefits you received. The Employment Department sends a Form 1099-G (Statement for Recipients of Unemployment Compensation) to each person who was paid unemployment insurance in the prior year.

The forms have been printed and will be mailed by January 31. The form will be mailed to the address we had on file for you as of January 17, 2012. These forms are not forwarded, so if you have moved or need to update your address, contact your UI Center.

Update: 1099G information for 2011 is now available to view in the Online Claims System.
WARNING - Online Scam Disguised as Unemployment Benefit Extensions
The US Department of Labor has been notified of an online scam attempting to glean information from unemployment insurance benefit recepients. This attempt to get personal information online, or phishing, claims Congress has reached agreement to extend unemployment benefits and directs the reader to go a website and file for their extension.
Benefit Extensions Currently Available
During these hard economic times, there are two unemployment insurance benefit extension programs to assist Oregonians out of work through no fault of their own; Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC), and Extended Benefits (EB).
