Wetland Delineation Certification Recommendations
Certification Feasibility
Senate Bill 544 (2007) required the Department of State lands to investigate the feasibility of establishing a state certification program for professional wetland scientists and to report back on its findings and recommendations for legislation prior to November 1, 2008.  The bill listed factors to be included in the investigation, including existing certification programs, pertinent professional knowledge, initial examination, continuing education, an appropriate entity to administer a program, and fees.

The  Department has completed the investigation and provided a final report to the sponsors of SB 544 and the interim legislative committees on natural resources.  The report is available as a pdf file:  http://www.oregonstatelands.us/DSL/WETLAND/docs/final_cert_rpt.pdf

If you have any questions about the report and/or would like to be kept informed of any future activity related to state wetland delineator certification, please contact Janet Morlan, wetlands program manager, at Janet.Morlan@state.or.us
