South Slough NERR has a variety of programs and activities scheduled at the Interpretive Center and within the greater Coos Community.  Interpretive as well as educational, events are designed with a variety of ages in mind. 
 
All programs are held at the South Slough Interpretive Center unless otherwise noted.  The Interpretive Center is located four miles south of Charleston on Seven Devils Road.

SATURDAY, MAY 3
BIRDING ON THE BAY
8-10 AM
 
Join a South Slough interpreter and venture along the bay in search of winged wildlife.
We'll provide binoculars, spotting scopes, field guides and an interpreter.   ($1/birder)

PADDLING THE ESTUARY
9-2 PM
 
Explore South Slough with an interpreter on a trail that flows with the tides.  Bring your own kayak or canoe, a life jacket, lunch, and water.  ($15/boat)  8 boat limit.  Call 541-888-5558 to register.
 

SATURDAY, MAY 10
TIDE OF THE TODDLERS - Migrations
10 -11 AM
 
Children 1-5 years old will discover how and why birds migrate through song, story, and craft.($1/toddler)  Please call 541-888-5558 to register.

CREATURE FEATURE - Birds
1 PM
 
Come explore the birds that make fantastic migratory journeys and learn more about the habitats on which they depend.  Please call 541-888-5558 to register for this free program.

EXPLORE THE SHORE
10 AM - 12 PM
 
Come out and explore the shoreline of the estuary.  Learn about what's out there on the tide flats.  Mud boots are recommended.  Meet at the Charleston Visitors' Center.  ($2/person) Please call 541-888-5558 to register. 

THURSDAY, MAY 29
LUNCH & LEARN - Wetlands
12-1 PM
 
Bring your lunch and join us in the Community Room at the Milner Crest Education Center for a lunch time lecture.  This month we'll look at the salt and fresh water marshes of South Slough.  Please call 541-888-5558 to register for this free event.

SATURDAYS ON THE SLOUGH - Wetlands  PROGRAM IS CANCELED
9 AM - 12 PM
 
Meet at the South Slough Interpretive Center to investigate the mysteries found in South Slough's marshes.  Mud boots are recommended.  (FREE for South Slough volunteers or $5/participant.)  Call 541-888-5558 to register.
