Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony 2008
17th annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony scheduled for May 8
The 17th annual State of Oregon Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. May 8, 2008, at the Oregon Public Safety Academy, 4190 Aumsville Highway, in Salem.

Each May, in recognition of National Police Month, the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training hosts the ceremony to honor officers who have given their lives while serving the citizens and visitors of Oregon. It is our intent to pay tribute to those who have made such an incredible sacrifice, while ensuring the safety of others.

Please plan to join us in honoring the 166 fallen law enforcement officers who are currently listed on the memorial wall, in addition to honoring our most recent loss – Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy Kelly Fredinburg – who was killed in an automobile accident, while responding to a call for assistance last summer.

For more information about the memorial ceremony, please call Public Information Officer Jeanine Hohn at 503.551.4362, or Academy Operations Manager Maria Ahrendt at 503.378.4398.
