Kitto Receives Statewide Director’s Award

The Oregon Department of Corrections honored outstanding employees and citizens at its annual awards ceremony in Salem this week.

Among those receiving the prestigious Director’s Award was Lt. Brian Kitto of Powder River Correctional Facility in Baker City.

Lieutenant Kitto wrote the nomination that led to the Oregon Department of Corrections’ selection as the “Nation’s Best Dressed State Agency” by the National Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors, a trade group representing the uniform industry.

In presenting this award, Deputy Director Mitch Morrow said, “By expending the effort to write this nomination, Lt. Kitto has earned national recognition for our agency and we thank him for his ongoing commitment to the professionalism of the Oregon Department of Corrections.”

In commending the work of all of the statewide awards recipients, Director Max Williams said, “We are here to honor the truly outstanding work done by the Department of Corrections’ staff and contractors, as well as some of the outstanding citizens of the state who have volunteered and helped us in achieving our mission.

“The mission of the Department of Corrections continues to be our focus: to promote public safety by holding offenders accountable for their actions, and reducing the risk of future criminal behavior.”
