Scott Taylor, assistant director of the Oregon Department of Corrections for Community Corrections was recently elected treasurer of the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA). He will serve a two-year term beginning at the end of August.
Mr. Taylor has 25 years´ experience in juvenile and adult corrections, including being a line parole/probation officer. He has held management positions for the last 20 years. He is a consultant for the National Institute of Corrections and is past president of the Western Correctional Association and the Oregon Criminal Justice Association. Additionally, he is the mayor of the City of Canby and has served as chairman of the Oregon Mayors´ Public Safety Committee.
APPA is an international association representing over 25,000 community corrections professionals from the United States, its territories and Canada. All are actively involved with probation, parole and community-based corrections in both the adult and juvenile sectors. All levels of government, including local, state/provincial and federal agencies are counted among its members.
