Governor Announces Sites for Lane and Jackson County Facilities
 
GOVERNOR ANNOUNCES SITES FOR LANE COUNTY AND JACKSON COUNTY FACILITIES
 
On Monday, June 9, Gov. Kitzhaber announced his selection for prison sites in Lane County and Jackson County.
 
The governor named the Stimpson Gulch site near Central Point & the Milliron Road site near Junction City as sites for future men´s medium security facilities.
The 400-bed Jackson County men´s facility, which will start off as a minimum security work camp (with the addition of the medium component in the future) is expected to be completed by March, 2005. Milliron Road, a 1,636 bed medium, is scheduled for completion in November, 2005.
 
In May, the Corrections Facilities Siting Authority, a five-member citizen´s panel, completed an exhaustive siting process and recommended the selection of these two sites
