Oregon Home Care Commission Committees
Training Committee
The Oregon Home Care Commission developed a statewide training program for homecare workers to enhance their skills and the quality of services that they provide to seniors and people with disabilities. The Commission has also collaborated with the State Independent Living Council to provide training to consumers of in-home services through their Centers of Independent Living. The Training Committee is responsible for providing guidance for our training programs and services and makes recommendations to the Commission. This committee has representatives from SEIU, Oregon Association of Area Agencies on Aging (O4AD), SPD, and consumers. This committee meets once a month.
Registry Committee
The Oregon Home Care Commission developed, implemented, and manages a Registry and Referral System (RRS) that matches employers with available homecare workers. The Registry Committee provides guidance and makes recommendations to the Commission. This committee has representatives from SEIU, 04AD, SPD, and consumers. This committee meets quarterly.
Developmental Disabilities/Mental Health Committee
House Bill 3618 requires that the Oregon Home Care Commission create a Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health Committee. The committee will address and make recommendations to the Oregon Home Care Commission related to the qualifications of personal support workers; registration of personal support workers; Referrals for routine, emergency, and respite care for consumers; training opportunities for personal support workers; and collective bargaining.
Emergency Preparedness Committee
The Oregon Home Care Commission is addressing its role in emergency preparedness as it relates to the homecare worker and the consumer/employer. This committee is new, and a meeting schedule is not established at this time.
Drug-Free Policy Committee
The Oregon Home Care Commission and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 503 are committed to protecting the safety, health, and well-being of consumers of in-home services and homecare workers through a drug-free workplace policy. The Drug-Free Policy is completed. This committee meets as needed.
Legislative Committee
The Oregon Home Care Commission is acutely aware of the need to advocate for the vital services needed by many Oregonians and their families. This committee meets as needed when the Oregon Legislative Assembly is in session.
