  • DESCHUTES COUNTY - PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER - Adult Treatment Program, Deschutes County Health Services, Behavioral Health Division - Bend, OR

    Position works as part of a mental health treatment team.  Duties include but are not limited to:  performing comprehensive psychiatric assessments and diagnosis; prescribing psychotropic medications to adults with psychiatric and/or substance abuse disorders; determining the medical necessity of proposed mental health services; working collaboratively with other licensed independent practitioners, mental health practitioners, and primary care providers.

    QUALIFICATIONS:  Master's degree in nursing and one year of responsible psychiatric nurse practitioner experience.  Possession of/or ability to obtain an Oregon Nurse Practitioner License with prescription privileges.  Possesion of/or ability to obtain an Oregon Registered Nurse License.  Possession of/or ability to obtain a valid Oregon Driver's License within 30 days of hire date.

    SALARY:  $4,841.68 - $6,626.11 per month for a 172.67 hour work month.  Will consider applicants interested in part-time or job share.  Excellent county benefit package when eligible.  This is a union represented position.  Position is available March 1, 2010.

  • DOUGLAS COUNTY  - COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSE 2 - Douglas County Health and Social Services Department/Public Health Division - Roseburg, OR

    This public health nursing position works within the Public Health Division's Babies First and Maternity Case Management Program.  The position works closely with pregnant women and children; assists in the initial assessment of a pregnant woman's risk factors; works with the mother in developing a case plan specific to their individual needs; follows the infant through age 3, providing anticipatory guidance, education, interventions and referrals when necessary.

    QUALIFICATIONS:  Must possess, at time of appointment, a valid Oregon Registered Nurse License, and an Oregon Driver's License.  Preference will be given for a Bachelor's degree in nursing with coursework emphasis in public health and one-year progressively responsible work experience in a public health setting.

    SALARY:  $16.50 to $22.05 per hour EOE, plus excellent full-family benefits.  Open until filled.

  • LINN COUNTY  - TOBACCO PREVENTION COORDINATOR - Linn County Public Health, Albany, OR

    Employees in this classification will perform tobacco-related health promotion and disease prevention activities including community assessment, program planning, community mobilization, and implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of tobacco prevention efforts.  Works closely with other agencies and organizations to implement evidence-based tobacco prevention interventions.

    QUALIFICATIONS:  Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in health promotion or disease prevention or related field, such as Public Health or Nursing.  Masters degree preferred; and two years of comparable work experience in health promotion program planning and implementation or any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, education and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the work described.  Must have exellent group presentation and facilitation skills and have a valid Oregon driver's license.

    SALARY:  $3192/month - $4075/month (37.5 hours/week) plus benefits.

  • NORTH CENTRAL PUBLIC HEALTH DISTRICT  - ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SPECIALIST/ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SPECIALIST TRAINEE - The Dalles, OR

    This position will be filled with either a Registered Environmental Health Specialist Trainee or Environmental Health Specialist with experience in the Oregon State Drinking Water and Onsite Wastewater Treatment Programs.  The Specialist will be responsible for conducting surveys and investigations and assisting in the planning, promoting and carrying out of a program for the improvement of county and state environmental health standards and regulations as necessary to secure compliance with public health laws and administrative rules, and peforms related work as required.  Duites may incllude, but are not limited to the following:
    • Conduct soil and site evaluations for On-Site Waste Water Treatment Program.
    • Suvery public drinking water systems and promote water supply improvement.
    • Conduct the Foodborne Disease Prevention Program.
    • Inspect public pools, motels and organizational camps to ensure compliance with laws/rules
    • Investigate complaints and disease outbreaks concerning food, water, animals, sewage disposal and communicable disease as required by law with the assistance of other county staff, as needed, and take necessary corrective/preventative actions.
    • Investigate complaints of sanitary nuisances.
    • Respond to a public health emergency as needed.
    • May be involved in solid waste management.


    QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent semester hours, in science courses relating to environmental health.  Must be a registerd Environmental Health Specialist trainee or registered Environmental Health Specialist in accordance with ORS 700.  Trainee must obtain full registration within two years of trainee registration.  Must possess valid Oregon driver's license at time of appointment.

    SALARY:  $3,718.46 - $4522.62/month plus benefits for registered Sanitarian; $3373.66 - $4101.44/month plus benefits for trainee.

  • TILLAMOOK COUNTY - FAMILY PRACTICE PHYSICIAN - Tillamook County Health Department - Tillamook, Oregon

    The Physician provides professional, comprehensive primary medical care and treatment services to a diverse population of patients in a primary care clinic setting.  The Physician diagnoses and treats a wide variety of health problems, and proides counseling and referrals for patients when appropriate.

    QUALIFICATIONS:  Graduation from an accredited school of medicine with completion of a one-year internship and/or completion of residency program in a primary care setting.  Must possess a valid license to practice medicine in the State of Oregon.  Family Practice Physician preferred but not required.  Clinic schedule is Monday through Friday; however, may require on-call privileges with the local hospital.

    SALARY:  $9584-$12,140/month.  40 hours a week.  Open until filled.

  • TILLAMOOK COUNTY - NURSE PRACTITIONER or PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT - Tillamook County Health Department - Tillamook, Oregon

    This position provides holistic care to a diverse population of patients in a primary care clinic.  The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant is responsible and accountable for managing a broad range of personal health services which may include assessing and diagnosing problems; developing a plan; recommending, evaluating and/or providing treatment, education, consultation and referral; and advocating for the patient.

    QUALIFICATIONS (Nurse Practitioner) - Must possess a valid Oregon Registered Nurse license, a Master's Degree in Nursing, having graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.  Must have a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license to prescribe medications.  Family Nurse Practitioner preferred.  (Physician Assistant) - Must possess a valid Oregon Board of Medical Examiner Physician Assistant license.  Must have a Bachelors Degree and have graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program.  Must have passed the examination given by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.  Must meet all requirements of OAR 847-050-0041 to prescribe medications.  The ability to read, speak, and write both Spanish and English is preferred but not required.

    SALARY:  $5375-$6809/month

  • TILLAMOOK COUNTY - NURSE 1-3 - Tillamook County Health Department - Tillamook, Oregon

    The Registered Nurse "1" position is considered to be an entry level position with mentoring and instruction from a supervisory registered nurse.  RN-1 will provide comprehensive nursing services to individuals, families, and communities in the area of health promotion and illness treatment and prevention.

    The Registered Nurse "2" position works with considerable independence in light of their past professional experience, supervisory nurse, nurse practitioner or medical doctor are all available for consultation.  Two years of progressively responsible nursing experience in a public health setting.

    The Registered Nurse "3" regularly performs work independently with no supervisory nurse, nurse practitioner, or medical doctor on the premises.  Four years progressively responsible professional nursing experience in a clinical or public health setting.

    QUALIFICATIONS:  Valid Oregon RN license required; valid Oregon driver's license; ability to speak, read and write in both Spanish and English is preferred, but not required.  Must be able to perform the full range of medical clinical nursing services; interview client, family and others, assess medical condition, dispense and administer medications, immunizations and birth control; and monitor results.

    SALARY:  $3598-$5060/mo.  40 hours a week.  Open until filled.

  • YAMHILL COUNTY - HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES DIRECTOR - Yamhill County - McMinnville, OR

    This position plans, directs and leads the activities, programs and staff of the County's Health and Human Services Department.  The director serves as chief officer for the development and on-going management of countywide health and human services, including psychosocial rehabilitation, chemical dependency, developmental disability services, mental health, and public health.  Prepares and administers the department budget, oversees the development and implementation of departmental contracts and intergovernmental agreements and coordinates department services with other county departments as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in behavioral, social, or health science, special education, public administration, or human service administration.  Five to seven years experience in human services programs, two of which are in community mental health and/or developmental disability and two of which are program managerial experience in human services.  Three years of increasing responsibility and experience in public health or a related field preferred.

    SALARY: $6778 - $8125/month.  Extensive benefits available.

  • YAMHILL COUNTY - Certified Medical Assistant - Yamhill County Public Health - McMinnville, OR

    Full time position will provide both office support and clinical assistance for other medical staff in a public health clinic setting.  May perform direct patient care and specific clinical procedures.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Must not be excluded from participation in federal health care programs (Medicaid, Medicare, and other federally-funded programs that provide health benefits); and Must not be excluded from participation in federal procurement (Federal Acquisition Regulation) and non-procurement activities (Executive Order No. 12549).

    SALARY: $2509-$2911/month, depending on experience.  Benefits include medical/dental/vision, life insurance, deferred compensation savings plan; and PERS; paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.
