New Rules Effective 10/1/09


Code Review and Project Site Inspections
Facilities Planning and Safety does Oregon Administrative Rules Code Review and Project Site Inspections for:
  1. DHS Health Care Licensing & Certification which includes the following types of facilities:
    • Hospitals
    • Ambulatory Surgical Facilities (ASF)
    • Birthing Centers
    • Outpatient Renal Dialysis Facilities
  2. DHS Seniors & People with Disabilities, Office of Licensing and Certification which includes the following types of facilities:
    • Assisted Living Facilities (ALF)
    • Residential Care Facilities (RCF)
    • Alzheimer Endorsements
    • Nursing Homes

Plan Review Process
In conjunction with the Oregon Department of State Police, Office of State Fire Marshal, Facilities Planning and Safety also assists in the Plan Review Process for NFPA Standards. For additional information on the Project Review by the Office of the State Fire Marshal, contact (503) 373-1540, ext. 257.

In addition to plan reviews, Facilities Planning and Safety also conducts on-site inspections for code compliance at the completion of each project.

  • Construction Project Guide
    Each year Facilities Planning and Safety publishes the "Construction Project Guide". This guide identifies DHS Service Agencies, Facility Licensing Classifications and Licensing Rules. The guide also contains a detailed outline of the plan submittal, fee schedule and site review process.
