The mission of the Food, Pool & Lodging Health & Safety Section is to implement and maintain intervention or regulatory strategies to prevent illness and injury as a result of patronage of food, pool & lodging facilities.

Annual Performance Measures
The Food, Pool and Lodging Health and Safety Section protects the general public by:
- Establishing operational and regulatory standards for the food service, pool, and tourist accommodation industries
- Providing information to the general public on environmental health and sanitation issues
- Providing technical consultation to the environmental health departments statewide that regulate restaurants, public pools and travelers' accommodations
- Conducting triennial program reviews of county environmental health departments
- Standardizing county inspectors for consistency
