Working towards a healthy environment
Toxicology Consulting Services is in the Office of Environmental Public Health. We focus on environmental contaminants and ways to mitigate and/or prevent health risks to the public.

Recent news: Safety concerns have been raised over the widespread use and disposal of polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants in consumer products. In 2009, Oregon passed legislation
(Senate Bill 596) to phase out the use of PBDEs.

Environmental Health Topics
For more information about these topics and other biologic or chemical contaminants contact our office at 1-877-290-6767 or 971-673-0440 or email us at general.toxicology@state.or.us.
Education and Outreach
Children's Environmental Health
Children are more susceptible to contaminants in the environment than adults because they eat more food, drink more water, and breathe more air in proportion to their body size. In addition, their internal systems are still developing and many of their behaviors put them at a higher risk for exposure.
