Annual Performance Measures

Toxicology Consulting Services works within what was formerly the Environmental Toxicology Section to protect the health and safety of the public from environmental hazards by:
  • Investigating and assessing potential health risks and reports of illnesses associated with environmental exposures to communicable disease agents or toxic substances.
  • Reviewing public health aspects of environmental impacts statewide.
  • Protecting public health by providing information about water quality, strengthening water quality standards at beaches, and promoting scientific research.
  • Establishing and maintaining standards and regulating cleanup of clandestine drug lab sites.
  • Ensuring that children and adults with lead poisoning receive appropriate care.
  • Providing programs to inform the public about the risk of lead poisoning and how to prevent exposure.
  • Certification and training of professionals working with lead-based paint and enforcement of lead-based paint regulations.
