Oregon EMT Reciprocity for BASICS AND PARAMEDICS
Also known as Certification by Endorsement
You must have a current certification with another state and with the National Registry of EMT's and be verified to be in good standing with (all) certifying agency(ies) to apply for Oregon reciprocity. The exceptions to this rule are: if your initial schooling for EMT was within the last 24 months and you are Nationally Registered but not state certified, we will waive the state requirement; or if you in the military and have a National Registry certification but not state, the state requirement will be waived. (Oregon does not recognize Intermediates from other states, however we do accept National Registry Intermediate 99)
All EMTs moving to Oregon will be required to undergo a fingerprint background check. The fingerprints you will need to use will be provided in your packet. Please don’t request additional fingerprint cards before receiving your packet!
In addition, all Paramedics that were first certified after June 30, 1999 are required to have an Associates in Applied Science or higher. If you do not have an AAS you may still qualify for a provisional license, please click here for more information.
If you are an EMT-Basic seeking reciprocity you will need verification that you have been trained in the skills below:
Further information will be included in your reciprocity packet. To obtain a packet of information, please click here. Once you complete and submit the packet request please allow one week for the packet to arrive in the mail. Once you receive your packet, review all the material as it is very complete and should answer most if not all your questions.
