How do Oregonians compare?
  • 25.9% of adults currently consume 5 or more fruits and veggies per day.
  • Overall, fruit and veggie consumption has increased from 21.1% in 1994 to 25.9% in 2005.
  • 23.4% of 8th graders and 17.7% of 11th graders consumed the recommended 5 fruits and veggies per day in 2005.

Oregon is using the launch of Fruits & Veggies—More Matters® a national campaign to increase fruit and vegetable consumption, as an opportunity to revamp and reinvigorate fruit and vegetable promotion across Oregon.

 

The benefits of eating more fruits and vegetables range from chronic disease prevention to providing the body with essential vitamins and minerals.
