The activities for this workgroup are taken from the Disparities Chapter (pdf) from the Oregon Cancer Plan (pdf).
Activities include:
- Assessing the availability of cancer information for specific populations, especially the underserved
- Defining and promoting the use of "best practices" messages and strategies for cancer prevention and education
- Collaborating with the Cancer Surveillance Advisory Workgroup (CSAW) to define data gaps
- Participating in the planning for Cancer Disparities conferences
- Promoting culturally competent training and resource development for health care and community organizations
- Promoting the use of culturally and individually appropriate educational materials
