Request for Public Comments
Background
In an effort to prioritize limited funding for the monitoring of coastal recreational water quality, the Oregon Beach Monitoring Program (OBMP) samples the ocean water at those beaches that have had historically higher bacteria levels and ocean water recreational use. As the program accumulates more water quality and use information from the beaches that it samples, it becomes necessary to re-evaluate and modify the sampling list.
This adaptive approach to the evaluation of ocean waters, coupled with valuable public comments, can enable the OBMP to expand the information base for each beach and to continuously refine its list of priority public health beaches over time.
Proposed 2008 Summer Beaches: Public Comments Requested
The OBMP will be accepting comments on the proposed list of beaches until Friday, April 18 (5:00 PM PST). Comments should be sent to jennifer.a.ketterman@state.or.us
