HRB Oregon for clients
_____________________________________________________________________________
The Health Record Bank of Oregon (HRB Oregon) promises to transform Oregon’s medical assistance system. For clients, DMAP’s goals for HRB Oregon include:
Secure access to your personal health information
HRB Oregon will provide clients access to their medical information through a secure Web portal. A single client’s medical history may be spread among many different offices, emergency rooms, labs and clinics. DMAP will assemble this existing information and provide one place where clients can view it and providers, with client authorization, can access that information:
-
Medications prescribed
-
Laboratory tests
-
Imaging results
The power to inform
HRB Oregon will be available to share the client’s medical information with others who need to know in order to provide appropriate services. In the emergency room, HRB Oregon will be able to help inform providers about the best treatment possibilities when the client may not be able to do so, due to situations such as unconsciousness or extreme pain.
When HRB Oregon is up and running, health care providers will have more information to act upon, so that clients can receive the services they need.
The power of prevention
HRB Oregon will help providers make more informed recommendations about the client’s health care, so that clients get appropriate, effective services whenever possible:
-
Clients will be less likely to have their time wasted on tests, referrals or other services that they have already received from another provider.
-
Providers will be able to locate the client’s history of medications prescribed, by any provider, before prescribing a new drug. This reduces the risk of negative drug interactions.
-
Emergency room care will have access to critical medical information such as allergies, current treatments or medications, and prior diagnoses.
Partnerships in health care
HRB Oregon will give OHP clients and providers a new level of access to health information. Clients will gain a better understanding of their personal health conditions and issues. This knowledge will also help clients take a more active role in their interactions with health care providers.
Knowledge is power. DMAP’s goal is to provide clients the opportunity to attend training sessions on how to use HRB Oregon to access their personal information, and have health care providers get training on how to encourage clients to bring that information to the table to make the most of each health care visit.
