What Do Host Sites Do?
- Submit Application and Service & Training Plans
- Designate a Site Supervisor
- Enter into Host Site Agreement
- Attend annual Site Supervisor orientation
- Advertise, recruit, select Member according to HOPE requirements
- Arrange / provide adequate training for Member for each Service Plan activity
- Orient Member to Host Site organization, local government, schools, community partners
- Provide ongoing guidance, supervision, support, member development opportunities
- Certify Member's Monthly Service Reports
- Assure Member attends HOPE sponsored team trainings and events
- Participate in site visits
- Complete mid-year and year-end performance evaluations of Member
Who is eligible to become a Host Site?
Eligible applicants include the following types of entities who are interested in expanding their youth sexual health and youth risk/prevention and positive development efforts:
- Non-profit groups, community-based and faith-based organizations
- Educational institutions
- Tribal, state, county, city government agencies

One member will serve as Team Leader for all members in the statewide AmeriCorps HOPE program. Benefits are the same as all other team members. The team leader's direct service is to the team itself rather than to individuals in the community. Duties include:

Member will be "on call" in regard to covering trainings and needs to be able to work with a very flexible work schedule. While traveling member will train and coach peer educators to present My Future My Choice curriculum, facilitate My Future My Choice classes, coordinate and mentor My Future My Choice Teen Advisory Board on individual projects and work with Commission on Children & Families-Positive Youth Development to assists community involvement with the Youth Sexual Health Plan.

Members will become a part of the Clatsop County Juvenile Department prevention team. Two Members will work in tandem, one serving Astoria School District and the second serving communities outside the Astoria area within Clatsop County. The essential responsibilities of the Members will be to help coordinate and facilitate substance abuse prevention and health promotion programs in coordination with local community partners and health related coalitions. Emphasis is on positive youth development and gender-specific prevention programs. Members will conduct community education and awareness activities. Member will be a part of the Oregon State University Extension Family Community Health and 4 - H Youth Development team in Astoria, Oregon. The essential responsibilities of the Member will be to help coordinate and facilitate upper elementary, middle school and high school nutrition education and outreach programming. Programs will include expansion of a pilot project combining nutrition education, physical exercise and basic cooking skills along with a new "Garden to School" project with Seaside School District. Emphasis will be on evidence-based practices and strategies with middle school youth using "Pyramid Power", "Pyramid Plus" and "Growing Healthy Kids" curriculum. Member will conduct community education and awareness activities. In addition, Member will provide opportunities for youth leadership and community service. Member will work out of Health Services Main Office and will be involved in activities in Redmond, Sister and LaPine communities as well as Bend. The member in this position will be involved in positive youth development through involvement in the My Future My Choice program (MFMC- a comprehensive sexuality education curriculum), implementing presentations and curricula to local schools, and participation and coordination of Queer Youth Space. They will also have the opportunity to increase their leadership and collaborative skills by working with several advisory boards and by assisting the Commission on Children and Families on several projects focusing on substance abuse prevention. We always leave room for some creativity and personal interests within our service plan and like to build on the strengths that the member brings with them.
Deschutes County is located in Central Oregon at the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Bend, the largest city in the county, it is an energetic city with a growing population of over 76,600 and is the home for the AmeriCorps position. Two Members will provide violence prevention education to youth and outreach to the community. The AmeriCorps Members will implement the Safe Dates curriculum, an evidence-based program that targets attitudes and behaviors associated with dating abuse and violence. The Members will also provide classroom presentations, small group presentations to at-risk teens in alcohol and drug treatment settings, and support groups for youth who have witnessed family violence. The Members will also be providing community outreach highlighting dating violence and domestic and sexual violence. In addition, the Members will maintain and improve social networking websites in order to educate youth about violence prevention in a setting commonly accessed by youth. One AmeriCorps Member will serve South and Mid-Deschutes County, with a site office in Bend. A second AmeriCorps Member will serve Crook, Jefferson, and North Deschutes County with a site office in either Prineville or Madras.
Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson Counties are primarily rural counties with ample opportunities for outdoor activities. Central Oregon is also known for its active music and arts communities.

Member will create a series of volunteer-led parent-child interactive groups and expand capacity to provide regular social-educational family activities for families. The AmeriCorps Member will be responsible to develop a system to recruit, train and support volunteer facilitators of these parent-child interaction groups. The Member will co-facilitate groups with volunteer facilitators to assure volunteers are comfortable with the format, have appropriate access to supplies/materials needed for groups, and that space arrangements are workable. The Member will develop a six to eight week cycle for groups, prepare materials needed for each session (handouts, toys/equipment, etc), and develop check out system for group materials.

Member will be part of the health promotion team and will assist the health educators in collaboration efforts needed to work with community partners. The health promotion team provides reproductive health education at both teen clinics in Washington County. In addition, the Member will also be active in continuing to support the Youth Leadership Council formed at Merlo Station High School. The member will also be engaged in the planning and implementation of a teen parent resource fair in cooperation with Washington County Healthy Start program. The resource fair will be a one day interactive event for young parents and their children. The Member will be active in the promotion of the teen clinics in Washington County through website development, recording PSAs and participating in a cable access tv show with the lead health educator. The final expectation for this member is to implement the Teen Decision Maze, an interactive "game" that focuses on reproductive health, drug and alcohol and violence.

Member will use a curriculum designed to assist youth in connecting with their passions and develop goals based on these interests. The curriculum was developed by the Thrive Foundation for Youth and draws upon the findings of leading researchers in youth development. Youth learn how to identify their Sparks or passions, recognize growth or fixed mindsets, take inventory of areas of strengths and barriers to goal attainment that exist within their lives, and begin developing goal management skills. These goals will then be practiced in a group service project, which will transition into the second phase of the program where youth are individually mentored to create personal goal management plans.
During this transition the member also helps the youth explore the community, find resources to assist them in gaining their goals, and develop the skills necessary to access these resources. During the final phase youth are progressively becoming more self sufficient in attaining their goals and the mentoring transitions to periodic check-ins on their goal attainment progression. The skill development of the youth is assessed according to rubrics designed by the Thrive Foundation for Youth, which let the member know what particular skills need to be developed by the youth to attain self sufficiency.

Members' roles will be to maintain current and create two new Youth Advisory Councils (YACS) within eight High School School Based Health Centers (SBHCs). Their work will be housed and supervised at Cascade AIDS Project (CAP); they will receive training and experience in managing youth councils, conducting health education, and organizing youth through outreach and social media. The main responsibilities of the Members' will be to work with Multnomah County Health Department (MCHD) Outreach Workers and clinic staff to actively engage and provide ongoing support and structure for YACs in each SBHC with the purpose of increasing awareness and access to each clinic. This will include recruiting youth, organizing meetings and trainings, providing resources for youth, evaluating and tracking the work of the YACs, and assisting in event planning and outreach that the youth councils choose to conduct. The Members will also engage in ongoing activities with both CAP's youth peer education program, and the Multnomah Youth Commission (MYC) to fuel the work they are doing within the schools and to strengthen linkages between SBHCs and community youth groups.

Member will provide healthy relationship presentations to area teens and community groups, and advocacy to teen survivors of domestic and dating violence. The member will develop position descriptions and recruit male volunteers to assist in Home Free services to teen boys, assist in training and supervisions of volunteers, plan a volunteer recognition event; create and facilitate a population-specific empowerment group, co-facilitate survivor support groups, and provide information and encouragement to individuals. Member will be responsible for the oversight of Home Free’s teen website. Member’s service will focus on prevention, self-development, skill building, and teen pregnancy prevention through evidenced based programs. The program will service youth 9-18 in multiple environments throughout Crook County. The program will include: Reproductive Health presentations in the local High School and other teen venues, My Future My Choice / Teen Advisory Board, Involvement with local S.A.D.D in the High School and Middle School, Partner with Tobacco prevention and education coordinator, Tobacco use/prevention presentations in the local schools, Partner with Outreach Coordinator around early prenatal care and tobacco prevention.
Prineville is located in the region of high desert. Bike trails and numerous parks and greenways make Prineville an outdoor city from the earliest days of spring until in the fall. This is an area for outdoor fun and recreation.

The Member will recruit volunteers, facilitate PeerPower mentor groups, provide trainings and support for mentors, organize, facilitate delivery of, and train volunteers to provide PeerPower community service activities and awareness events. The Member will recruit volunteers to facilitate Friendly PEERsuasion after school groups and Strengthening Families 10-14 classes. In addition, the Member will participate in local prevention focused coalitions and assist the Mentor Coordinator in updating the PeerPower website. PeerPower serves 14 school districts in the county with active participation by 6-10 of these.
Douglas County covers 5080 square miles with a population of approximately 102,000 people. A little less than half of the population resides in or around Roseburg, the county seat. Douglas County has a vast array of outdoor activities and is known worldwide for outstanding fly fishing opportunities. In addition, for a small community, we have exceptional music and theater opportunities throughout the year.
