The Oregon Department of Human Services mission is to make it possible for people to lead lives that are independent, healthy and safe. To do this DHS employs approximately 9,800 individuals throughout the state who provide crucial safety net services to persons facing job loss, health problems and other uncertainties. DHS also ensures Oregonians have clean drinking water, safe food and an effective emergency trauma services system.

Most of the services DHS provides are delivered locally through a statewide network of community partners. This helps DHS achieve the unique solutions that best meet the needs of each community and its residents.

You can learn more about the many ways people in your area and throughout Oregon are served by DHS and its partners by viewing the county fact sheets listed below.
